The following item was taken from reports on file with the Cherry Hill Police Department:
On Sunday, Dec. 5 at 3:49 a.m., police were notified that there was a burglary in progress at the Best Buy store located at 2130 W. Route 70. Upon arrival it was determined that the actors had used a stolen car to smash the garage doors open and were loading televisions into a stolen van. Upon sight of the officer’s arrival, both vehicles took off with police in pursuit. After a short time the actor driving the stolen car bailed out and began running on foot in the vicinity of the Loews Movie theatre.
While a sector search for this actor began he was able to find an unattended police car and stole same and took off westbound on Route 38. A countywide broadcast was issued and the vehicle was found in Camden at Broadway and Ferry Avenue a short time later on fire. Meanwhile another officer was pursuing the stolen van, which went through numerous towns before being stopped in Evesham Township where two of the actors bailed out on foot. An Evesham K-9 was able to track down one of the actors and she was placed under arrest. The second actor was able to elude capture.
The police department is not releasing any arrest information of the actor in custody at this time as the investigation is still ongoing. All of the stolen property was recovered. A complete internal review will be conducted of all of the facts and circumstances that led to the theft of the police car.
