Mayor’s Message: Chuck Cahn

As mayor, I have consistently reiterated the importance of improving and increasing our communication with members of the community. That is why I am excited to announce that we have begun rolling out our new township website, which represents the next step in making our government more efficient, effective and responsive to the people we serve.

You will be able to find us at the same web address you’re used to, www.cherryhill-nj.com, but you’ll experience a completely new look and feel, along with many increased capabilities.

While residents can continue and are encouraged to visit us at town hall, the township’s new website will essentially operate as a virtual town hall, allowing immediate daily access to all township information and services. Additionally, residents can sign-up for the “notify me” feature on the website, which will send township news and headlines, along with the mayor’s weekly review and public calendar, directly to your inbox.

At the request of our residents, the new site is focused on and organized around the services our residents and businesses are searching for, instead of simply offering a listing of township departments. This new approach will allow our residents and business to quickly and easily locate the information they are looking for.

Visitors to the site will now be able to manage their own experience through the “My Dashboard” feature of the site, which allows visitors to customize the information they view based on the interests and needs of the person searching. Our new site also offers a more expanded, user-friendly events calendar so that residents are able to see what is going on across our community.

Through the “notify me” section, residents can even sign-up to receive calendar and event updates sent directly to them as well.

Our new comprehensive staff directory will better enable visitors to find the best person to answer their questions.

Each section now also contains a list of “most frequently asked questions,” because it’s likely that if your neighbor has a question, you may be seeking the answer, too.

Additionally, we have increased the online integration between the township, police department, fire department, EMS and public works.

We will have more on this coordination as we introduce additional features to the new website.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to add new features to the website, including additional options for online bill payment, an expanded emergency alert system for communications, and even an iPhone app through Civic Plus to report concerns such as pot holes.

There will also be a complete mobile version of the site for users looking for information on the go.

I want to encourage everyone to visit the new site and engage in the conversation with my administration and the members of town hall.

You can also continue to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook or sign-up to receive our electronic communications through the “notify me” alerts feature. Your feedback is and will continue to guide our decisions here at town hall, and in particular, on the new website.

I hope that the new website increases the ability of our residents and business to obtain the information they seek and ensures that all of their voices continue to be heard by Cherry Hill’s leaders.
