Recycle your electronics tomorrow

On Saturday, April 14, Camden County residents can help keep the environment healthy by participating in a drive-through electronics recycling collection.

The collection, sponsored by the Freeholder Board, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Camden County Public Works Complex, which is located at 2311 Egg Harbor Road in Lindenwold.

“Now that there is a state law in place prohibiting municipalities from picking up these items in the curbside trash, this is the perfect opportunity for residents to properly dispose of unwanted televisions and computer equipment,” said Freeholder Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the Camden County Division of Environmental Affairs. “Recycling these items will prevent harmful materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium from being released into the environment.”

Items that will be collected at no charge include: computers, keyboards, VCRs, scanners, DVD players, tape players, monitors, stereo equipment, typewriters, printers, TVs, laptops, modems, telecommunication equipment, fax machines, adios, answering machines and telephones.

“With such rapid advancements in technology, I’m sure there are residents out there with electronics piling up — multiple computers or phones for example,” said Freeholder Nash. “If you bring those electronics to this free event, everything will either be refurbished for future use or recycled to help protect the environment.”

For a complete list of what to bring, and for upcoming recycling events, visit www.camdencounty.com. If you have any items that are in question, please call the Division of Environmental Affairs at (856) 858–5241.
