Center for Mood Disorders and Neuromodulation Therapies holding open house Friday

Depression, the leading cause of suicide in America, affects more than 20 million adults and as many as one of every six children and adolescents. An urgent public health problem, suicide is now the number one cause of death among teens and accounts for twice as many deaths in the United States as homicides.

For many individuals with depression, symptoms persist despite the use of medication and talk therapy, the traditional first-line treatments for this condition. For those individuals, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive therapy that treats major depressive disorder using magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions, is now available at the area’s first center dedicated to treating individuals with major depression, bipolar depression and other neuropsychiatric disorders.

To introduce its services, the Center for Mood Disorders and Neuromodulation Therapies, 2250 Chapel Ave, West in Cherry Hill, will hold an open house on Friday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include facility tours, TMS therapy demonstrations and information on treatment options. Physicians and other staff members will also be available to answer questions related to the services available at the Center.
