The following report is on file with the Cherry Hill Police Department:
On Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m., Cherry Hill Police arrested and charged a husband and wife for possession of heroin, possession of CDS paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police were patrolling in the vicinity of the Hillside Motel on Route 38, when they observed a vehicle with an expired registration.
After the car stop for this violation, police discovered the female was in possession of 10 bags of heroin.
A straw, used to “snort” heroin, was also confiscated from inside the vehicle.
In addition, the couple had their infant son with them, which prompted police to contact the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
This agency reported an open case involving the family.
Representatives from DCPP arrived at the Cherry Police Department and took custody of the child based on the arrest of the parents for possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of a child.
The suspects were released on complaint summonses pending a Camden County Superior Court date of Sept. 12.
