An estimated 5,000 people are expected to gather at Historic Croft Farm this Saturday, April 25, to celebrate and learn about living more earth-friendly lives at the sixth annual Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the rain-or-shine event will feature 100 school, green craft, vendor and non-profit displays, along with an e-waste drop off and special recycling depot. The family-friendly event features two stages of entertainment, healthy food choices, a Phillie Phanatic appearance and more.
Admission is free. The annual event is a collaboration between Cherry Hill Township, the Cherry Hill School District and Sustainable Cherry Hill.
Earth Festival is supported by Sustainable Cherry Hill’s Volunteer Ambassador Corps, many of whom are Cherry Hill high school students completing community service hours. The Sustainable Cherry Hill executive board and volunteers will welcome visitors to learn about the organization and encourage visitors to create a contribution for the new Art and Sustainability task force art installation titled: “Pieceful Participation Wall.”
The art installation project will be located on event day near Croft Farm’s iconic ‘Free Wheel’ sculpture. Sustainable Cherry Hill volunteers will encourage people to create an image or share a thought about the earth. Each creation will be made from up-cycled materials to showcase the relationship between reducing, reusing, recycling and creating beautiful art. Plans are being made to display the installation at sites around the township.
Entertainment on two stages features students from Rosa, Carusi, Beck and Cherry Hill East High schools, and professional performers such as The DG Band, Haley Alexandra, The Cherry Hill Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus, David Janofsky and TrainWreck along with demonstrations from Kobukan Karate and Kempo Family Fitness. The Phillie Phanatic goes “green” at the festival about 11:30 a.m.
