Do Something: Fireworks, parades highlight Fourth of July weekend

A plethora of Fourth of July events are taking place around South Jersey this weekend.

Fourth of July weekend has arrived and there is no shortage of events taking place across South Jersey this weekend. While there are no holiday fireworks scheduled in Cherry Hill Township, there are plenty of other areas to check out a show this weekend. If fireworks aren’t your thing, we also have a list of parades taking place in the area this July 4 weekend.

FIREWORKS

Friday, July 1

  • Barrington will hold fireworks at Woodland School at approximately 9:30 p.m. Barrington Band will perform a concert prior to the show. The show is free to attend.
  • Medford will be hosting its Independence Day celebration and fireworks at Freedom Park. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the firework display beginning at dusk. The rain date is July 2. The event is free to attend

Sunday, July 3

  • Haddonfield will hold its Fourth of July fireworks show at the Haddonfield Memorial High School stadium. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with fireworks beginning around 9:30 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 10. Blankets are allowed, but not chairs. The event is free.
  • Haddon Township’s fireworks display will take place at Haddon Township High School. This free event will begin at 7 p.m. with a performance from the band, High Fidelity. The rain date is July 5.

Monday, July 4

  • Collingswood’s free fireworks show will take place at Collingswood High School. The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. The band, “To The Max” will perform at 8 p.m. Fireworks will follow at 9:15 p.m. The rain date is July 5.
  • The Camden Waterfront Freedom Festival will take place along the Delaware River. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. and the fireworks will go off at 9:30 p.m. The event is free.
  • Evesham Township will hold their free fireworks show at Cherokee High School. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with fireworks starting around 9:30 p.m. Pets are not permitted.
  • Philadelphia is having a daylong celebration on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway beginning at noon. There will be a free concert leading up to the fireworks at around 10 p.m. at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

PARADES

Monday, July 4

  • Haddonfield’s Fourth of July parade will behind at 10 a.m. and travel down Kings Highway from Chestnut Street to Haddonfield Memorial High School.
  • Haddon Heights will celebrate Independence Day with a parade beginning at 9 a.m. The parade will travel down Station Avenue beginning at Second Avenue. It will travel down to 10th Avenue before heading down High Street to Hoff’s Park.
  • Oaklyn’s Fourth of July parade will kick off at 10 a.m. The parade will travel down Beechwood Avenue and end at the Oaklyn Public School.
  • Evesham Township’s annual Independence Day Parade will take place on Main Street beginning at 11 a.m. Prior to the regular parade, children can participate in the Kid’s Bike Parade at 10:30 a.m. Kids up to grade five can ride in the parade or parents can push children in strollers and wagons. Attendees are advised to find a spot to view the parade early as viewing locations fill up quickly.
  • Moorestown Township’s annual Fourth of July parade will take place beginning at noon. The parade will begin on Chester Avenue and then continue down Main Street.
