Letter: CHEA president says staff is ready for successful 2016–17 school year

Students in Cherry Hill Public Schools will return to the classroom on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The days are getting shorter, the schools’ parking lots are no longer empty during the day, and the “Back to School” sales are almost unavoidable. It’s unavoidable: summer is ending, and it’s time for our community’s youth to go back to school. But, rest assured, the members of the Cherry Hill Education Association have been working hard this summer to ensure a successful school year.

Throughout the summer, our school personnel have been working hard to prepare our schools for the children in Cherry Hill. Without the students, the hallways have been quiet. The classrooms have been empty. But, the learning and dedication hasn’t stopped. The schools have been full of hard working CHEA members preparing for the students’ arrival in a few short weeks. CHEA members understand that success doesn’t happen without planning, dedication and commitment.

We are committed to the academic and social growth of all our students.

As our students enjoyed their summer months with family and friends, the members of the Cherry Hill Education Association have prepared their classrooms, spent countless hours preparing plans and worked with each other to strengthen curriculum and instruction. As we do each year, the members of CHEA are committed to working together to improve the educational experience that all children of our community will have during the 2016–2017 school year.

Paperwork is being filed and processed, rooms and hallways are being cleaned and the classrooms are now full of life with decorations and welcome back bulletin boards. The hard work of all the CHEA members is quite apparent when you enter the schools these last few weeks of August. It will also be apparent on Sept. 1 and 2 as teachers and staff convene to put the final touches on their schools during the in-service workshops.

It is my pleasure to represent such a dedicated group of individuals that work together as a team to be sure the schools are ready and awaiting the arrival of students on September 6th. I hope all of our students have a school year filled with learning, new friendships and fun just as their backpacks are filled are on the first day.

Wishing all of my CHEA members, our parents and students a safe and Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Steve Redfearn
Cherry Hill Education Association President
