The township’s annual food truck festival will be back at Deptford Memorial Park – formerly Fasola Park – from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Previous festivals have drawn hundreds of guests, as well as a few dozen food trucks and craft vendors, according to Mayor Paul Medany.
“It’s a fun day for the community, and it’s about the Deptford Township Council building community spirit,” he said. “That’s what all of our events are meant to do. People also get to see Deptford Memorial Park. There’s so much to do here and we want to bring attention to our great park system also.”
Council is also a sponsor of the festival and some of its members will be on hand to interact with residents.
The food trucks and vendors for the event are all from township businesses and neighboring towns. They have included Not Your Mama’s Tacos, Potato Patoto and Kona Ice, as well as craftsmen and organizations such as Candle Bakery, Holy Grounds Coffee Ltd. and Creative Maker Designs.
“It’s just incredible the talent that is out there right now,” Medany boasted.
Those interested in setting up a vendor stand for the event can reach out to the parks and recreation department by calling (856) 845-0804 or emailing [email protected].
Live music will be provided by the South Jersey-based band Poor Mouth Henry from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The group’s website describes it as a band that performs covers of classic rock, country rock, country and blues.
The food truck festival is among summer events for the township before fall. All events, Medany said, are intended to help bring the community together in one place.
“It’s about bringing people together and building community spirit,” he noted. “It’s also about meeting our neighbors, meeting our residents and they get to meet us, and they also get to meet their friends and family, too.
“You might meet people here who live next-door to you that you have never met before, and that’s what it’s about.”
