Moorestown Day brings businesses and the community together

The Moorestown Business Association (MBA) will celebrate its 50th annual Moorestown Day on Main Street on Saturday, June 1.

Event chair Nika Corbett is planning a day for residents to eat, hear live entertainment and learn about local businesses that make up the township’s vibrant business community.

“We’ll be having a lot of kid activities, we’ll have inflatables, we’ll have music, we’ll have different artists performing,” Corbett said. “We’ll also have well over 200 vendors in attendance this year. We’ll have a good number of food trucks as well from all different cultures, so it’s going to be a really good, diverse experience.”

Hundreds of merchant and vendor booths will line Moorestown’s historic thoroughfare – from Church Street to Chester Avenue – to showcase a wide variety of goods and services.

“Being that we’re the business association, this is one of those days where we definitely are highlighting local businesses, bringing as much attention to Main Street and Moorestown …” Corbett noted. “It is definitely about bringing small businesses together and also bringing the community together to have a really good, festive time, and introduce them to some businesses that they are not familiar with, which I think is always a good thing.”

Helen Davies Miramontes chaired the event for seven years, and has witnessed its growth over time.

“The whole idea is an event for the residents to enjoy,” she explained. “As far as outside businesses, bringing other people in from outside to visit the event and see what the town is about, … does open it up to attracting other businesses to come (who) want to be in town …

“It’s been a growing event for years,” Miramontes added. “It always seems to be a sellout event as far as the number of participants that we can accommodate on the street, and we always have more and more people asking how they can participate in the event.

“It continues to grow under the current leadership (and) I think that’s an ongoing thing that it’s always growing more and more, businesses wanting to participate.”

The rain-or-shine event’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit the MBA website or Facebook page.

“I’m looking forward to some good weather, a lot of fun, everybody having a day of success,” Corbett offered.
