Cherry Hill mother helping to fund research for daughter’s rare disorder
From the day her daughter, Emilia, was born, Cherry Hill resident Meredith Schalick knew something wasn’t right. Emilia would have periodic times where she couldn’t use one half of her body. After a couple of years, Emilia was diagnosed with Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood, a rare neurological disorder that only occurs in one of every one million people. Now, Meredith is fundraising for the Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood Foundation in hopes that better treatment or a cure may be found.
Cherry Hill Police raising money for cancer research during No-Shave November
A number of Cherry Hill police officers are sporting a new look thus month. The Cherry Hill Police Benevolent Association is sponsoring a No-Shave November fundraiser through the end of the month. Police officers are growing bears, mustaches and raising money to be donated toward multiple organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer.
Cherry Hill West brings “School of Rock” to the stage
On Dec. 2, Cherry Hill High School West will be one of the first schools in South Jersey to perform the Broadway musical version of “School of Rock.” The show is based off of the 2003 film featuring Jack Black. The musical is unlike any other recent show Cherry Hill West Theater has performed, with live musical performances and a diverse cast of middle and high school students.
Early childhood of Helen Keller to come to life on Cherry Hill East Theatre stage
The story of one of the most well-known activists in American history will be performed at Cherry Hill High School East beginning on Dec. 12. Cherry Hill East Theatre is performing “The Miracle Worker” as its 2016 fall play. The show is based on the early life of Helen Keller, a deaf and blind speaker, author and activist.
