After receiving 2.3 inches of snow overnight Thursday into Friday, Cherry Hill could receive more snow on Saturday afternoon.
Public works crews in Cherry Hill and around the region are preparing for the possibility of more snow on Saturday after a couple inches fell in the area Thursday night into Friday.
There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the weather system, which is expected to arrive on Saturday. National Weather Service forecasters are not ruling out accumulating snow of two inches or more. Areas closer to the coast are forecaster for higher snow totals.
Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said crews are preparing to treat the roads again ahead of Saturday’s weather system.
“Our crews were treating county roads throughout the night, and will continue with this operation in anticipation of the next storm system expected to arrive in the early morning hours tomorrow,” she said.
On Thursday, National Weather Service totals show Cherry Hill was one of the areas receiving the most snow. The township received 2.3 inches as of 3 a.m. on Friday morning.
As of noon on Friday afternoon, Cherry Hill was not under any winter weather advisories. Counties bordering the coast in South Jersey were under either a Winter Storm Watch or a Winter Storm Warning.
If snow hits the area tomorrow, residents are asked to try and remain off the roads.
“If you don’t have to travel, please stay off the roads to give our crews the ability to effectively do their job,” Shin Angulo said. “Anyone on the roadways during these times should be prepared to encounter slick road conditions. Always leave at least six car lengths behind our DPW vehicles while they work, and move any cars off the street and into a driveway while we continue our operations. Remember that it is illegal in New Jersey to plow or shovel snow from private property into roadways.”
The county will also be under a Code Blue advisory from 6 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Saturday. When the Camden County Health Officer declares a Code Blue Weather Advisory, municipalities with homeless populations, situational homeless or transient populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to accommodate their immediate needs.
