The Cherry Hill East boys swimming team will be going for a sectional championship tonight against Cherokee High School.
Cherry Hill High School East girls swimming is back on top of South Jersey as the Cougars won the South Jersey Group A championship on Wednesday night.

Cherry Hill East defeated Egg Harbor Twp., 99–71, in the sectional championship match. The victory comes one year after Egg Harbor defeated Cherry Hill East for the 2016 South Jersey Group A title. It is the first sectional championship for Cherry Hill East girls swimming since 2013.
The Cougars’ relay performance helped push them to the win. Cherry Hill East won all three relays in the meet. Grace Yoon was also big in helping the Cougars to the win, finishing in first place in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
Cherry Hill East’s postseason will continue next week in the NJSIAA Public Group A semifinals.
Anthony Mathis places in top-18 at NJSIAA state individual bowling tournament
Cherry Hill East bowler Anthony Mathis had a solid opening round in the NJSIAA individual bowling state tournament on Wednesday. Mathis was one of 18 bowlers who advanced through the first qualifying round of the tournament.
Mathis scored a 734 series in the first round to finish with the seventh best total, according to scores from the NJSIAA. Mathis’ high game was a 259 in the second game of the first qualifying round.
Though Mathis did not make the stepladder finals, he and Matthew Stephens of Egg Harbor were the only two South Jersey bowlers to make the top-18 cutoff of the first qualifying round.
Cherry Hill East boys bowling will compete in the team state tournament tomorrow at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick.
Cherry Hill East boys swimming aiming to defend sectional title tonight
Cherry Hill East boys swimming will look to take another step closer to a return to the state championship tonight. They will compete in the South Jersey Group A sectional final against Cherokee High School. The meet will take place at 6:30 p.m. at GCIT.
The Cougars are trying to win their ninth sectional title in a row. Cherry Hill East’s streak began with three straight Central Jersey Group A titles from 2009–2011. The team has since won five straight South Jersey Group A titles from 2012–2016 and will go for another championship tonight.
If Cherry Hill East wins, they will advance to the NJSIAA Public Group A semifinals next Wednesday.
