Fourteen students report injuries following bus crash in Medford

Fourteen students reported various injuries following a crash involving their school bus on Feb. 13, according to the Medford Township Police Department.

Police, the Medford Township Fire Department and multiple EMS (emergency medical service) stations responded to the intersection of Skeet Road and Hawkin Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a school bus and a truck at 2:53 p.m.

The on-scene investigation determined a school bus, operated by a 59-year-old Burlington man, was attempting to make a left turn from Hawkin Road onto Skeet Road as a utility bucket truck, operated by a 24-year-old Williamstown man, was traveling south on Skeet Road when both vehicles impacted within the intersection, police said.

As a result, a total of 14 students reported various injuries. Three students were released to their parents at the crash scene and responded to local hospitals for medical treatment for complaint of pain. Ten students were transported to Virtual Hospital in Mount Holly for reports of complaint of pain and other non-life threatening injuries. One student was transported via ambulance to Cooper Hospital as a precaution after reporting head and rib pain, police said.

The Medford Township Police Traffic Unit is investigating the motor vehicle crash. Issuance of motor vehicle summonses are pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
