The Moorestown Lions Club will host its 35th annual golf outing at Topgolf in Mount Laurel on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
The event is open to anyone and will include a barbeque-style dinner, beverages, beer and wine, a 50/50 drawing, and a sports memorabilia auction. Participants can bring their own clubs.
“It’s just a big event just to have fun with,” said Ashley Ward, club vice president. “It supports not only local (people) around here, but we support the whole world – the Lions Club – for the sight and hearing impaired, and we help certain people with scholarships in our own town in Moorestown.”
All proceeds raised during a Lions’ project or fundraiser also benefit special needs individuals, youth programs and local scholarships. The club’s other upcoming events include its annual holiday parade on Saturday, Dec. 2; next year’s beef and beer; and a May hoagie sale at Moorestown Hardware.
“Topgolf and our beef and beer are (are) our major events,” Ward noted. “Our holiday parade is an event that we do and the town loves it and yes, Santa is a big thing, but … everything is sponsored with the holiday parade.”
The golf outing starts at 6 p.m. There is a $130 event fee and six team players are allowed per bay. Kids and teens are also welcome. Ward emphasized that although it’s in the middle of the week, the golf event is a chance for people to relax and help others.
“This is an after-work event,” Ward said. “Three hours, come relax, come support the community … and come support people who can’t see or who can’t hear You have to realize, it’s an event that helps people, and it’s not just you’re helping people, but you’re helping your community.”
Given the club has a lot going on, it is always looking for volunteers.
“We’re always looking for a lot of new members, so if there’s new members that want to join, they can ask us through social media, and we would be more than happy to give them information,” Ward said.
