High school sports playoff update: Cherry Hill West boys, girls swimming fall in first round

Cherry Hill West wrestling will compete in the sectional semifinals tonight.

Cherry Hill High School West boys and girls swimming were both eliminated in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

Both Lions’ swimming teams battled it out in the first round of the South Jersey Group B playoffs yesterday. The girls swimming team lost their meet against Gloucester County Institute of Technology, 105–65. The boys swimming team came up short on the road against Ocean City High School, 114–56, yesterday afternoon. Matthew Lang got the Lions’ lone first place finish in the meet, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.48 seconds.

Cherry Hill West wrestling to host Pennsauken High School in wrestling semifinals

The Lions’ wrestling team will try to advance to Friday’s sectional final as they take on Pennsauken High School tonight at home in the South Jersey Group IV semifinals. Cherry Hill West won a tight match over Pennsauken, 46–34, earlier this season on Jan. 12. Tonight’s match will begin at 7 p.m.
