Both the boys and girls swimming teams at East will go for sectional championships later this week.
Cherry Hill High School East boys and girls swimming will both go for South Jersey Public A championships later this week after winning their sectional semifinal meets on Monday.
The Cherry Hill East boys swimming team easily defeated Lenape High School, 123–47, on Monday afternoon to advance to the South Jersey Public A sectional final. The Cougars took first place in all but one race in Monday’s meet. Robbie Thompson was victorious in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Jack Watson won the 100 breaststroke and was on the winning relay team in all three relay events for Cherry Hill East.
The girls team also won easily on Monday, as the Cougars took down Cherokee High School, 115–55, in their sectional semifinal. Cherry Hill East also took first place in all but one race in the meet. Seven different swimmers won individual races in yesterday’s meet.
The boys swimming team, which is looking to win back-to-back state championships this year, will go for their seventh consecutive sectional championship Wednesday against Egg Harbor Township High School. The meet will take place at Gloucester County Institute of Technology beginning at 3:30 p.m. The girls team will also swim against Egg Harbor in their sectional final. They are going for their second straight South Jersey Group A title. The girls’ sectional final meet will be on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at GCIT.
