How to spell winner: Lumberton student tops at annual bee

A Lumberton student took first place in the annual spelling bee sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 1436.

Middle-schoolers from Bordentown, Delran, Lumberton, Palmyra, Riverside, Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Cinnaminson and Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly vied for a  top cash prize of $100.

Aiden Tiver of Lumberton Middle garnered first place, Ueder Alves DeSousa from Palmyra Middle took second place, Anish Amin from Bordentown Middle earned third place and Jacob Kaeser from Delran Middle received an honorable mention.

DeSousa won $75, Amin received $50 and Kaeser took home $25. All 33 registered spelling bee participants were awarded a good luck $2 bill and a congratulatory note from the Knights of Columbus.
