To mark International Day of Action for Rivers, volunteer students from Palmyra High School and members of the AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program descended on Fort Motts State Park in Pennsville earlier this month for a much needed cleanup.
Among the items discarded included wood planks and pallets, plastic buckets, a long-lost buoy, an old TV, a kiddie pool and many bags of trash.

The American Littoral Society hosted cleanups of the Delaware River area on March 11 and 12. March 14 marked the 26th anniversary of International Day of Action for Rivers, the mission for which is to protect the rivers and defend the rights of communities that depend on them, according to its website.
