Haddonfield resident provides thoughts on leaf pick-up.
An article in the Nov. 29 edition focused on the controversy in Haddonfield regarding leaf pickup citations. I cannot comment on the timing of pickups; however, citations issued because leaves had been raked into the street are gratifying. Raking leaves into the street has never been permitted. It is a road hazard, creates traffic congestion, and causes parking problems. Ordinances need to be enforced; otherwise they should be repealed. No need to complain or rake every day. We rake our leaves onto the curb strip once or twice a week and compress them (some water and pressure does wonders). Never had a problem. Just follow the law and be considerate.
