An Important Message from our President Tim Lomax:
I would like to address the rumors of a possible referee strike this weekend (league wide). Due to issues at certain venues, and interactions with coaches and parents (vulgar language, threats, and even following officials to their vehicles while making threats), the threat was made that the referee association we use is going to strike this weekend and possibly the rest of the season. We have been informed that “as far as games go, we proceed as normal, until there is any reason not to, if for any reason there were reasons not to, we would definitely notify everyone” (from the League Commissioner).
So going forward we are asking the following:
- Do not use any foul language, especially directed at the officials on the field. You will be warned, and a 2nd offense will lead to the party being asked to leave the field for the rest of the day’s events.
- If a party is talking trash to an opposing team (the children on the field) you will be asked to leave the venue immediately and will be asked to have a meeting with the board on possible expulsion for the rest of the season.
- If a party threatens an official, they will be asked to leave the venue immediately and will be asked to have a meeting with the board on possible expulsion for the rest of the season.
If the party refuses to leave the field, the Harrison Police Department will be called, and they will remove you from the venue.
I know we all get heated with a missed call, these Officials are out here to do a job, and are human just as the rest of us, they make mistakes, and miss calls. Let the coaches handle the on the field issues.
