Chestnut Branch Park will play host to a unique visitor on Tuesday Aug. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the form of Cowboy Kevin, an entertainer who wows children and adults with magic, lasso tricks, juggling and other spectacles.
“The event is open to the public and all are welcome,” said Gloucester County director of parks and recreation Chuck Rose.
One thing that most people are rather curious about is: who exactly is Cowboy Kevin and what does he do, considering there is little information online about him.
“Cowboy Kevin is Kevin C. Carr,” said Rose. “He is a former Ringling Bros. circus clown. He is also a very talented magician, comedian and actor. Kevin uses his wit and silliness to keep the kids laughing throughout the show. His magic is also incredible and amazes kids and adults alike. There will also be plenty of juggling.”
Carr has been honing his craft for around 20 years. He is a graduate of the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Clown College, according to his page on Currier’s Magical Mania LLC’s website.
Carr has performed all over the continental U.S in corporate events that have been hosted by the likes of Microsoft, Disney and Universal Studios. He has also done work at some of the biggest casinos in Las Vegas, specifically The Mirage, The Paris and Bally’s Bellagio.
He has also appeared as a clown in tv shows and movies, such as Doodles the clown on an episode of C.S.I., and a motion capture artist and stuntman for the movie ‘The Polar Express’ in which he played an Acrobatic Elf.
Cowboy Kevin is one of many events that Chestnut Branch Park hosts as part of its summer family fun show program.
“There is one family fun show per week for the most part,” said Rose.
