Superintendent Larry Mussoline talks about HIB cases in Haddonfield

Following an incident where an HMHS lacrosse player allegedly directed a racial slur at a black Sterling High School female track athlete, some residents have been asking what protocols the school district has in place to handle these situations. At the Thursday, June 28 BOE meeting, Superintendent Larry Mussoline made a Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying presentation and delved into the details of what HIB means and how HIB situations are handled in the school district.

Tatem talk: Elementary class size is a hot topic

At the Thursday, June 28, BOE meeting, parents expressed their thoughts about the classroom sizes at Tatem Elementary School. The current board policy on class size allows up to 25 students, kindergarten through third grade, and up to 27 students in grades four through five. Resident Amy Adams spoke during public comment to share her concerns with the board. As a parent with two children at Tatem and a teacher with 21 years of experience, Adams stood with other parents to ask for change and to amend the policy on classroom size.

Tucked in a tiny corner at Rowan College of Gloucester County is a group doing big things: the Volunteer Center of South Jersey. For 20 years, this group has been connecting locals with volunteer opportunities. Since Michele Epifani, the center’s executive director, automated the center’s list of nonprofit organizations in 2013, the center and the number of nonprofits and people it services are growing.
