There’s a buzz about July 4

This year in the July 4th parade, Ken Landgraf, classic car buff, will be driving Joe Murphy, the Citizen of the Year, in his big yellow and black 1956 Ford Sunliner, he calls the Bumble Bee. As you know bumble bees have been mysteriously disappearing along with honey bees in what scientists call colony collapse disorder. It’s no laughing matter, but we thought we’d do a call to arms to lure the bumble bees back to our parade.

So if you are looking for a theme for your neighborhood, family or organization float, consider some of these bee themes. The Buzy Bee. Beehive hairdos. Birds do it…Bees do it…Let’s do it. Float like a Butterfly…Sting like a Bee. Let’s MisBeehave. Spelling Bees. The Bee Gees. Plan Bee.

Every year the committee tries to encourage more involvement in the float competitions, and it is hoping to spark some creativity with this unusual theme.

The Haddonfield Celebrations Association can always use a few more dollars. Send contributions to HCA, PO Box 15, Haddonfield, NJ 08033 as soon as possible. It would be greatly appreciated.

Once again, the fireworks are on Sunday, July 4 at dark with the Shore Thing playing beforehand and the parade is on Monday, July 5, at 10 a.m., line up starts at 8:30 a.m. and extends to 9:30 a.m. behind the Presbyterian church with 3 Good Men Barbershop Quartet entertaining you on the street.
