Women entrepreneurs are making their mark in Downtown Haddonfield. The number of women-owned businesses continues to grow, with over three dozen businesses owned and operated by women. The Partnership for Haddonfield (PfH) recognizes their contribution to the community, and salutes them on Tuesday, March 8 for International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is celebrated during Women’s History Month, which celebrates and recognizes the contributions of women throughout history and in contemporary society.

“From boutique shops to restaurants and professional services, our Downtown has provided an opportunity for women to experience entrepreneurial success,” said Partnership for Haddonfield Chairwoman Susan Hodges. “We are home to a diverse and knowledgeable group of female entrepreneurs,” she added.

The National Association of Women Business Owners (NJWBO) reports that there are over 12 million female entrepreneurs in the U.S., generating $1.8 trillion a year. Women entrepreneurs own 40 percent of U.S. businesses, bring a unique perspective and sometimes must break ceilings in traditionally male-dominated industries or roles.

Haddonfield has over 200 distinctive businesses and shops throughout its Downtown, offering gifts you just won’t find anywhere else and something for everyone. You can shop at sophisticated apparel boutiques, craft and gift galleries, shoe stores, toy shops, jewelers, specialty stores and much more.

“Being a woman who owns a small business means so much. Getting to live my passion every day is something I feel so much gratitude for. Being able to apply my vision to positively impact women is what it’s all about to me. The reward is immeasurable. Being a part of a community with so many strong, smart, confident women is truly inspiring. I feel so fortunate to be a part of it,” said Tammy Pular, owner of Maxwell James, located at 137 Kings Highway East.

In addition to unique clothing, gift, bridal, and novelty shops, Haddonfield offers an assortment of dining options – including fine restaurants, a brewery, a wine tasting room, coffee, and sweet treat shops. Fine chef-owned BYOBs offer a range of cuisines such as Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, and more; fun & casual dining offers include hoagies, pizza, crepes, vegan options and more; and an array of gourmet and food-oriented retailers sell everything from gourmet cupcakes and specialty olive oils to food items from France and the British Isles. The chefs of Haddonfield provide guests an authentic experience with unique menu items offering savory dining options sure to meet the appetite of any hungry shopper.

“It feels amazing being a successful woman in business. It means being proud and confident of who you are and what you believe in, and not letting anything stand in your way of making your big dream a big reality. Haddonfield is such a great town, and I’m so grateful to be part of the community and call it my business’s hometown. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive from the very beginning and it’s just wonderful,” said Mia Eylon, owner of Mia’s Meals Falafel Bar, located at 3 S Haddon Avenue.
