Haddonfield Police officers pursuing a suspect near the Elizabeth Haddon Elementary school forced the school district to be placed on “Tier I” lockdown this morning from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Haddonfield School District Superintendent Rich Perry said.
An officer contacted the district and let administration know of the ongoing pursuit and as a precaution the schools were locked for the 50 minute timeframe and nobody was allowed in or out of the facilities, Perry said. During the lockdown all activities and educational instruction continued as normal, he said.
“It was really just a precautionary measure,” Perry said.
The entire lockdown was brief and uneventful, he said.
