The Mantua Township Committee held a meeting on Nov. 15, its only public session in November.
An ordinance was adopted that amends the current township joint municipal court and
the committee also authorized the participation of West Deptford and National Park in that court, a move authorized through a shared-services agreement later in the meeting.
There were multiple first readings of ordinances at the meeting, including one to remodel the Land Use Development Code to include a new chapter for stormwater control. The move is in accordance with updated state Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
Other ordinances involved replacing sections of the township’s Land Development ordinance to initiate new provisions for accessory structures, and amending the salary regulations for various township positions.
Also at the meeting, Candice Pennewell was appointed the acting CFO and director of finance for Mantua. The township police department was approved to purchase a new radar and message trailer that will cost more than $14,000. The police administration building was also granted a contract with Heritage Flooring LLC for the installation of carpet throughout the space, a project funded within the 2021 capital program.
Tax refunds, construction permit fee refunds and housing inspection fee refunds were also granted to several township residents and businesses.
The last resolution approved allows Mantua and the township committee to accept an audit for 2020, a move that involved signing a group affidavit form. The township did not receive any audit findings for 2020.
The next township committee meeting will take place on Monday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. in the municipal building. The last public session in 2021 will be on Monday, Dec. 20, at the same time and location.
