Haddonfield Gold Award Girl Scouts honored

On Sunday, June 3, four Ambassador Girl Scouts from Troop 30555 received their Gold Award. The highest award possible in Girl Scouting, each young woman spent 65 hours minimum specifically on her project after meeting requirements for leadership and career hours. Aubrey Bryan painted a portable, two-panel canvas mural for UrbanPromise Ministries entitled, “Connections Along the Avenue.” It depicts the connection between organizations in Haddonfield and UrbanPromise, and features landmarks from the region. Emma Sanger-Johnson developed a website for the Gay-Straight Alliance organization at Haddonfield Memorial High School to serve as a resource for information and sharing. Holly Harrington’s project was, “The Prom Exchange” for which she collected over 200 hundred dresses and accessories to be sold at the Fort Dix Thrift Shop.

Talia Dunyak created a 15 minute documentary called, “The Happiness Project,” in which she posed three questions to people of different socio-economic status in an effort to define happiness. She then presented her documentary to the public with a concluding question and answer period. Girl Scout Troop 30555 been active since the scouts were in kindergarten; eight members remain active and will each being going her own way on to colleges throughout the region this fall.
