Many surrounding communities have rescheduled Halloween to Monday per an executive order signed today by Gov. Christie, but Haddonfield announced today on the borough website that Halloween’s celebration date won’t be changing.
Kids can grab some candy in Haddonfield on Friday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Update: 10:05 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30:
The Historical Society of Haddonfield has some good news. Their annual Haunted Mansion will take place on Friday, Nov. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., which will follow the borough’s trick-or-treating time.
According to a historical society release, “Come join us for spooky, frightening fun. Refreshments will be offered in the courtyard to all the brave survivors! Tickets for the tour are $3 for adults and $2 for children and are available at the door.”
Update: 5:34 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30:
Haddonfield Public Schools will stay closed through Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Safety concerns were cited.
According to an email from Borough Administrator Sharon McCullough, trick-or-treating has been rescheduled to Friday, Nov. 2 from 2 to 6 p.m.
“Also, to insure the safety of our children and families, the Borough wanted to allow enough time for PSE&G to repair any electrical wires that were pulled down in the hurricane,” said the statement.
The Halloween Parade was canceled for this year.
The borough also said to avoid any areas marked with yellow emergency tape in the coming days.
3:38 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30:
The clean up process has begun in Haddonfield.
Today, the school district and borough hall remain closed and are set to re-open tomorrow.
Driving through town, the effects of Hurricane Sandy are everywhere, from downed trees to debris in the streets.
According to a borough bulletin posted this morning, there are still electrical wires down and should be avoided at all costs.
