The Cinnaminson Township Committee has decided to create a YouTube channel to publish relevant township events and meetings.
After the committee met virtually for a year, it was able to return to in person sessions. meetings. Though a step in the right direction to normalcy, committee members recognized that some people in the community either can’t make it to meetings or do not feel comfortable being in person.
Created in July, the main goal of the YouTube channel is to keep the community as informed as possible while allowing health and safety guidelines to be met for those who prefer video contact.
“The township sees the YouTube channel as another means to directly communicate with residents,” said Eric Schubiger, township administrator. “While we effectively utilize the township website, Facebook page and Nixle notification system to share pertinent information in writing, the YouTube channel affords the township the opportunity to share video content.”
As of right now, the channel includes videos from the town’s summer concert series; committee meetings; mayoral announcements; and, more recently, a video on single-stream recycling in the county. The township committee is looking into ways to livestream its sessions, but for now, meetings will be recorded and uploaded to the channel within a few days.
Cinnaminson’s website has been updated and redesigned to help viewers find information more easily, and the YouTube videos are now linked to the site and other social-media channels.
