Pianist Noam Sivan to perform tomorrow night

The Haddonfield Center & School for the Performing Arts is pleased to present its ninth concert of the 2012–2013 season, a performance by pianist Noam Sivan.

Pianist, composer, improviser, conductor, and interdisciplinary artist, Sivan has traveled throughout North America, Europe, and his native Israel.

He is one of the young pioneers in the revival of improvisation in classical music today, both as a performing artist, and as faculty member at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and Mannes College in New York, where he teaches improvisation.

Sivan’s activities in the field of live improvisation have been praised and supported by musicians such as Robert Levin, Richard Goode, Charles Neidich, and Carl Schachter; and have been noted by the press — Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Juilliard Journal, Tablet Magazine, Daily Messenger, Rochester City Newspaper, Haaretz, Colbo, and others.

He has improvised in concert in a variety of formats: solo piano improvisation; conducting orchestral improvisations; and ensemble improvisation with colleagues.

In December 2009 he produced the first-ever all-improvisation concert at the Curtis Institute. Sivan’s concert at HCSPA featuring works of Chopin and his own improvisations is sure to be a technical tour-de-force — come see why this virtuoso has been hailed as “one of the brightest stars in the constellation of young world-class pianists.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the Grace Performance Hall, at Grace Church in Haddonfield.
