I am writing in support of Ed Borden for commissioner in the upcoming election on May 14. This is a very important election, and I urge everyone to make it a priority to vote.
I have known Ed for many years, worked with him on his last two campaigns and fully support him again. Above all, I believe Ed has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in his past eight years as commissioner, and I have the utmost respect him for many reasons. He’s smart, he’s reasonable and he listens. He has an unwavering commitment to our community and a history of service to the borough and board of education, not to mention invaluable professional experience in law and law enforcement, which has been a tremendous benefit to us in his role public safety director.
What other candidate is better suited to serve in this role but Ed Borden?
However, one of Ed’s traits which stand out in my mind above others is this: Ed has the courage to take a position and stand behind it. He listens, inquires, analyzes, researches, evaluates, thinks out of the box, reasons and is pragmatic in his approach to solving problems.
He then comes to a conclusion and takes a position. This is not always easy to do, especially with significant and controversial issues.
Our commissioners can’t be everything to everyone, but I believe they must be true to themselves and to the majority of people in our community. Whether you agree with his positions or not, Ed takes one.
This is what our elected officials should do. This is what a true leader does. Of course, they must be thoughtful and sensible, but we also need them to be innovative and not afraid to take risks.
I respect Ed’s willingness to take a stand on what he believes is right while keeping the best interests of our community at the forefront, always.
I think our town is what it is today because our past leaders had a vision and stood up for what they believed was best for Haddonfield.
Look around you, sure there is always room for improvement in everything in life but seriously, it doesn’t get much better than Haddonfield. We live in a great place. Let’s keep it that way. So, please vote, every vote matters. And, I encourage you to consider a vote for Ed Borden. He has mine.
