Possible water discoloration due to sewer construction
The following is a message posted on Haddonfield’s website.
Possible water discoloration due to Washington Avenue construction project utility work is currently being completed along Washington Avenue between West Park and West Mountwell avenues. While the construction involves replacement of the existing sanitary sewer, the borough is also replacing water services and fire hydrants within this work area.
As the borough completes the water service and fire hydrant work, you may experience discoloration of the water inside your home. This is due to the loosening of sediment and mineral deposits in the water main during the opening and closing of valves.
If discoloration occurs, it is recommended that you run a cold-water spigot until it is clear. This is similar to when the borough Utility Department flushes fire hydrants in the spring and fall each year.
We thank you for your continued cooperation and patience while we make the necessary improvements to the borough’s Utility System.
Should you have any questions, feel free to contact the Borough Public Works Department at 429–0183 or Commissioner Moscatelli at 429–4700, ext. 317.
