Six new COVID-19 caused deaths announced in Camden County

Total number of confirmed positive cases in Camden County up to 24,272 with 675 total fatalities

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing six new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 1,005 additional cases of the disease confirmed between Dec. 12 and Dec. 14. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 24,272 in Camden County and 675 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 4: MALE, 30s, CAMDEN CITY
New Case 5: FEMALE, 70s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP
New Case 6: FEMALE, 70s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP

“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims and their families, as well as with everyone who is currently quarantining, waiting on test results, or fighting this disease,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today we saw the first vaccination for COVID-19 in the United States, yet by the end of the day, thousands of Americans will have been killed by the disease. We are closer to the end of this pandemic than ever, but please do not think this crisis is over. We must continue to wear masks and social distance or we will lose countless others before a vaccine is widely available.”

The Department of Health is announcing 1,005 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,821 confirmed resident cases and 910 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 24,272 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 363 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 675 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
