Amid the doom and gloom of the COVID-19 pandemic, Evesham Township recently announced some good news: Its Farmers’ Market will return for a second year, starting June 3.
It will be hosted at the the Marlton Greene Shopping center, located at the intersection of Route 73 and Main Street, every other Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. (or until dusk) through September 23.
Support local business while getting fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, crafts and other locally sourced products. This year’s market will also offer food trucks and snack vendors to keep shoppers energized while they shop.
The Marlton Farmers Market began in June 2019. Its mission is to provide access to fresh, locally produced fruit, vegetables, meats, baked goods, flowers, honey and other products to the residents of Evesham Township and the surrounding communities. In addition to farm vendors, the market will also include local businesses, community groups and live music.
The market also aims to build an alternative food system through direct sales, without the need for either products to travel long distances or large corporate “middlemen.” It fosters entrepreneurship while functioning as an incubator for small-scale food producers and building a community by raising the profile of downtown Marlton, reinforcing a positive image of Evesham Township and creating a site for civic engagement and entertainment.
