Hurffville Elementary School students raise funds for the American Heart Association

Adalyn Noble, Owen McDevitt, Nazzarena Gurcsik, Charlotte Stewart-Groff, Sophia Gurcsik, and Tess Marolla. Marolla was the school’s top raiser, bringing in more than $1,000 on her own.

Hurffville Elementary School students broke their all-time record in funds raised for the American Heart Association through its Kids Heart Challenge event. The 2019-20 total is at $14,100, with more dollars expected to trickle in before Friday’s deadline. The total is more than $1,000 past last year’s previous record.

The jump rope-inspired event is held yearly, with physical education teacher Melissa McNally adding lessons on heart health and nutrition in the weeks leading up to the event.
