County Commissioner Melinda Kane, military officials and community leaders celebrated local high-school seniors who will enlist in the military after graduation at an enlistee ceremony on May 7.
The event was held at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin with more than 400 attendees. Speakers included Command Sgt. Major Michele S. Jones and Brigadier Gen. Christopher R. Amrhein, who commended the seniors’ commitment to serving their country.
“These remarkable young people deserve to be honored for their selfless decision to serve their country,” remarked Kane, as a Gold Star Mother and liaison to the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs.
“I am so proud to celebrate this next chapter in their lives and wish them nothing but the best as they embark on this journey.”
Our Community Salutes (OCS) – a nonprofit that supports and recognizes the seniors who’ve committed to the military – was established in Camden County 15 years ago. It is now in more than 23 states, with about 40 ceremonies expected this spring.
