Washington Township man charged with possession of child sexual abuse material

A 37-year-old Washington Township man was charged with offenses related to the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office (GCPO).

On Oct. 26, GCPO became aware of a social media account on KIK that was in possession of CSAM. Through an investigation, GCPO detectives assigned to the HTCU identified the registered owner of the KIK account as Joseph Dalessandro. On Dec. 14, detectives from the GCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit and the Washington Township Police Department executed a search warrant at Dalessandro’s residence. During the search, numerous files of CSAM were allegedly located.

Dalessandro was arrested, processed and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two in the second degree and one in the third degree, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He is detained at the Salem County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
