Southampton residents headed to the polls Nov. 7

Voters in Southampton Township went to the polls on Nov. 7 and elected members of the governing body/board of education.

The Burlington County Clerk’s Office has posted results from the election on its website. All of the election results are unofficial and will remain unofficial until a vote counting process that could take more than a week has been completed.

The totals as of Nov. 8 do not include late mail-in ballots and provisional ballots, which are expected to be tallied later this week.

Southampton Township Committee

One, three-year, Southampton Township Committee seat was open in the general election on Nov. 7.

Republican James F. Young ran unopposed for re-election. No petition was filed for the Democratic seat in the June primary.

As of Nov. 8, Young has received 2,198 votes. There are 59 personal choice votes.

Southampton Township board of education

There were three seats of three-year terms open on the Southampton Township Board of Education in the general election on Nov. 7.

Incumbent Russell Hann and newcomer Leon Carelli were on the ballot in the uncontested race. No one petitioned for the third open spot.

As of Nov. 8, Hann, who has served on the school board for 32 years, received 2,005 votes, and Carelli, who ran for his first elected seat, received 1,860 votes.

There are 430 personal choice votes.
