Mt. Calvary Baptist Church hosts community cookout, yard sale

Event is hosted by church member Robert Greene

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. The Mt. Calvary Baptist Community cookout and yard sale returns Saturday after a hiatus during the pandemic.

A community cookout and yard sale will take place at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on High Street in Mullica Hill Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

The event will feature food, a chicken dinner for $17 and rib dinners with choice of two sides for $20. There will also be several local vendors inside and outside of the church.

The cookout and sale will be hosted by church member Robert Greene, a major organizer. Proceeds will benefit the church and some of its programs.

“There will be several types of meat and fish there,” he said. “There will be vendor tables, who we’ve asked to set up … and so far, there are eight of them.”

Saturday marks the second time this year the church has hosted a cookout after a smaller one earlier this year, and the first on a larger scale since before COVID, when Greene and the church took a break.

“We were being cautious and took a break from it because of the pandemic,” he noted. “This event is on a bigger scale as this one will have vendors. We aim to try to have two each year.”

Food can be ordered in advance by calling the church at (856) 478-2511, contacting Greene at (609) 519-1639 or emailing to [email protected].
