The Barclay Farmstead Museum kicks off its 2023 program season by celebrating Women’s History Month with an exhibit titled “Remember the Ladies” on Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. While admission is free, timed tickets are suggested. Light refreshments will be served.
As you tour the beautiful 1816 farmhouse, you’ll learn about Camden County women who made history in fields ranging from the military and politics to medicine, education and show biz. Among them:
- A Campbell Soup Company secretary who joined the Army and became the first WAC to land in Normandy after the Allied Invasion of June, 1944
- An Irish immigrant who fought the all-male medical establishment to become one of Camden’s first female physicians
- The first woman to register to vote in Camden County
- The Camden native who found fame with Patti LaBelle’s Bluebelles and the Supremes.
