Burlington County applauds new county prosecutor

Commissioners praise LaChia Bradshaw’s leadership

The Burlington County Commissioners congratulated LaChia Bradshaw on her confirmation as Burlington County Prosecutor on June 29 and expressed confidence that her leadership will help continue the office’s outstanding record of service.

“This is a historic day for Burlington County as we officially welcome LaChia Bradshaw as our county’s new prosecutor and the first woman of color to serve in the post as our county’s top law enforcement official,” said Burlington County Commissioner Felicia Hopson. “LaChia is highly qualified and well-prepared, and we are supremely confident in her ability to lead the Prosecutor’s Office and carry on its outstanding record of delivering justice. We also believe her service can inspire other young women to follow in her footsteps and become law enforcement officers or prosecutors, so we are deeply grateful for her nomination and swift confirmation.”

Commissioner Allison Eckel, who serves as the Board’s liaison to the Prosecutor’s Office, also applauded Bradshaw’s confirmation. She had been serving as the county’s acting prosecutor since June 1.

“This confirmation is fantastic news for Burlington County. LaChia is extremely qualified and her service as an assistant prosecutor and more recently as acting prosecutor was exemplary,” said Eckel. “She is exactly the right person to lead this critically important office and represent our residents as the county’s top law enforcement official. We want to thank Governor Murphy for nominating her and all the senators who supported her confirmation.”

Bradshaw is a graduate of Rutgers University, where she received a B.S. in Administration of Justice, with a minor in Sociology. She earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. Prior to taking the helm as acting prosecutor last month, she served as a Senior Assistant Prosecutor in the Major Crimes Unit – Special Victims Section.
