Add some flavor and action to your spring break this April. The rec department has culinary classes, sports and games.
For kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, join teacher and coach Eric Cassidy for two energizing and fun days (take one or both). On April 18 and April 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jeff Young Park a variety of games and sports will be offered – basketball, dodgeball, kickball and more.
Kick off spring break with a ‘Biscuit Breakfast Sandwiches and Pancake Cake’ culinary class on April 18 from 9 a.m. to noon and learn to whip up pancakes and biscuits. Students in third through seventh grade will make breakfast biscuit sandwiches with eggs, cheese and bacon as well as a decadent pancake cake – layers of pancakes with yogurt and cream cheese filling.
On April 21, there will be two culinary classes. The first from 9 a.m. to noon is ‘Chicken and Belgian Waffles’. Students will prepare oven-fried chicken and pair them with ‘loaded’ (berries, whipped cream) Belgian waffles – sweet and savory deliciousness.
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. satisfy those summer cravings with the ‘Carnival (Boardwalk) Treats’. Learn to make funnel cakes with powdered sugar and pretzel dogs with dipping sauces. All culinary classes will be taught by Chef Katie Sklarow.
All students will take home food from each class to share. Wegman’s is a culinary partner of the rec department and generously donates pantry items to its programs.
