The Harrison Township Recreation Commission has tickets now available for its Oct. 11 fall bus tour, which has taken riders to both Pennsylvania and New York for the last 13 years, with one year off for COVID.
“People look forward to the Sight and Sound (Theatres) and that is the first trip,” said Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew, referring to the tour’s destination, a Ronks, Pennsylvania, theater that presents a different production every year. This year’s show is “Queen Esther,” a musical inspired by the Bible’s Old Testament.
The tour bus will leave the Ella Harris Park parking lot in Mullica Hill, across from McDonalds on Route 77, Bridgeton Pike, at 8 a.m. and return at 7 p.m.
Passengers will receive a “local bites” voucher and a voucher for the self-guided village tour, where samples from several of the shops are available. Passengers are also on their own to grab food at the nearby Harvest Cafe or Klinghouse Restaurant.
The commission will also head to New York City on Dec. 8 to see the Rockettes perform at Rockefeller Plaza and then go shopping.
“It’s beautiful,” said Chew. “We always wait and go after the tree is lit at the Rockefeller Center.”
Two buses will leave Ella Harris Park at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 9 p.m. The first bus includes a ticket to Radio City Music Hall for the 5 p.m. showing of its annual “Christmas Spectacular,” as well as tickets to a backstage tour. The second bus includes shopping near Times Square. Chew points out the Christmas displays in the windows as well as Christmas shopping ideas.
