At a work session on June 1, the Haddonfield Board of Commissioners agreed to begin holding all Board, Commission and Committee meetings in person, based upon Governor Murphy‘s most recent Executive Orders, which lift almost all of the previous pandemic restrictions for public gatherings.
In announcing the move back to in–person meetings, Mayor Colleen Bianco Bezich stated, “Transparency is a priority, so I would like to offer hybrid meetings in the near future, as these would enable more residents to participate in our meetings.” The Mayor further provided that staff would spend the summer months preparing for hybrid meetings to begin this fall.Â
The Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission meetings will continue to take place via Zoom for the month of June. This is because these meetings have already been noticed with Zoom log–in/call in information.
Bianco Bezich stated the rationale for this as keeping both applicants and the general public in mind, stating, “We don‘t want applicants to incur any additional expense or miss a deadline by having to issue new notices, which may actually end up confusing members of the public who support or object to these applications. As such, Planning, Zoning & HPC will remain as Zoom meetings for the month of June, and be held in–person in July.”Â
In related news, Borough Hall remains open to the public, but members of the public will no longer be required to wear masks upon entry as of today, June 7.
Additionally, the Mabel Kay Senior Center and the 65 Club will re–open to the public for both indoor and outdoor activities as of today, June 7.Â
“I‘m looking forward to seeing many more un–masked, smiling faces this summer,” said Bianco Bezich. “But, it‘s important that we all remain respectful of others who may choose to continue masking or keeping socially distant out of an abundance of caution.”Â
