YMCA of the Pines needs counselors, instructors

The following release is from YMCA of the Pines:

As New Jersey reintroduces its sleepaway summer camps for 2021, YMCA of the Pines in Medford sets its sights on hiring new counselors, lifeguards, challenge course facilitators, wilderness trip instructors and other seasonal positions for the upcoming summer. Like many camps, amusement parks, restaurants and other seasonal businesses nationwide, YMCA of the Pines is currently facing a seasonal staffing shortage. Unlike previous years, they may not have access to the usual influx of international students due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

As camp enrollment continues to grow, the nonprofit is launching a regional hiring campaign to fill positions quickly for both overnight and day camps. They are looking for highly motivated individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of youth while enjoying the great outdoors. Staff members provide campers with a positive environment that aims to foster healthy development, encourage new relationships, build self-confidence and teach new skills.

Chief Operating Officer Greg Keresztury explains, “We can’t wait to welcome back campers for a 2021 summer camp season full of fun and adventure. With enrollment increasing, we need proper staffing to accommodate the day-to-day needs of our campers.” He adds, “Without enough staff, we would have to limit the number of campers, giving fewer youth the opportunity to experience camp at a time when they need it most.”

Seasonal camp positions are perfect for high school students, college students, educators and others who are looking to gain experience and are passionate about working with kids. Parents who join the YMCA of the Pines team have the opportunity to bring their kids to camp programs for free which helps with childcare costs.

Community members interested in a summer camp position can browse opportunities and apply directly online at www.ycamp.org/employment/.
