The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 12 new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 211 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, May 8, and Monday, May 10. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 48,537 in Camden County today and 1,187 total fatalities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with these 12 latest victims and their families, as well as with every family that has lost a loved one to this insidious virus,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“Thanks to an increase in our vaccination rate and the warmer weather allowing residents to gather in open, outdoor environments, we have seen the average number of new cases fall rapidly. Over the last seven days we are averaging just 76 new cases per day, compared to more than 150 this time last month. With more restrictions set to be lifted in the coming weeks, the best way to stay protected and to protect others is to get vaccinated if you haven’t already.”
Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
To date, 244,406 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There 197,799 people who are fully vaccinated.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,353 confirmed resident cases and 1,378 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 48,537 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 461 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,187 total fatalities countywide.
The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
