The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 989 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed between Friday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 4. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 29,758 in Camden County today and 747 total fatalities.
“We are still experiencing more than 250 new cases of COVID-19 each day on average, even as we wait to learn the effects of any potential holiday surge generated over the last several weeks,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“Vaccinations are already underway across the country and here in New Jersey, but this pandemic will still be with us for the foreseeable future. If we continue to wear masks and social distance, we can ensure that COVID-19 does not have the chance to cause the same level of devastation in 2021 as it did in 2020.”
The Department of Health is announcing 989 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,991 confirmed resident cases and 1,070 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 29,758 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 392 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 747 total fatalities countywide.
The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
