CamCo reports almost 900 new coronavirus cases

Three-day, post-holiday official count pushes confirmed COVID-19 infection total over 19,000 since March.

The Camden County Department of Health on Monday revealed 889 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed between Saturday, Nov. 28, and Monday, Nov. 30. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 19,708 in Camden County today and 607 total fatalities.

“We won’t know the full effect of Thanksgiving on our COVID-19 transmission rate for at least a week, but I am tremendously grateful for our residents who sacrificed so much to help keep our community safe over the holiday,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Until a vaccine is widely available to the public, we won’t be able to return to normal. But we can continue to enjoy something close if we take the precautions necessary to limit the spread of coronavirus. With transmission so widespread, make sure that anytime you feel sick or believe you are exhibiting symptoms, that you avoid contact with others, stay home, and get tested. As always, wear a mask, social distance, and continue to stay away from indoor gatherings as well.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,709 confirmed resident cases and 804 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 19,708 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 358 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 607 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
