The Camden County Department of Health issued a release on Monday revealing 1,151 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed between Saturday, Nov. 21, and Monday, Nov. 23.
This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 17,773 in Camden County today and 596 total fatalities.
“While Saturday’s figure may be an outlier, it fits with the overall trend we have seen in recent weeks. We’ve now seen dramatically more cases in the past 23 days than we did throughout the entire summer,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“The driving force behind these cases continues to be small indoor gatherings. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, it is critical that we limit our exposure to others. This year’s celebrations must be kept small, and ideally limited only to those in your immediate household. We can still flatten the curve, just as we did in the spring, but it will not happen without the effort of every member of our community. Remember, if you ever start to feel sick, stay home and get tested as soon as possible.”
Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,684 confirmed resident cases and 757 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 17,773 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 353 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 596 total fatalities countywide.
The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
